Dope Poetry Jam

Coming April 2026

“Dope Poetry Jam” is a live spoken word experience celebrating Flint’s creative voices through poetry, storytelling and performance.

We’re inviting local partners to help bring it to life.

Inspired by the '90s HBO television show, Def Poetry Jam, the event will feature local poets and give them a safe, supportive environment for creative expression. Similar to the HBO show, "Dope Poetry Jam" will also hold space for local musicians to perform their own original poetry.

I am currently seeking sponsorship support to help cover costs for the show, including host and artist stipends, venue fees, production needs, and promo efforts to ensure the event is free or low-cost for the community while fairly compensating participating artists. I am aiming to raise $1,000 to cover the full cost of the event.
